Thinking About Renting Chair Covers?

September is the best time to decide on renting chair covers, especially from Heartstrings Bridal! This month we have our annual chair cover sale going on. Rental for the cover AND sash is only $1.50 each! Rent through us and you’ll end up saving hundreds compared to other rental companies, or venues. Many places will charge $7+ per chair. Why pay more for the same product?

Most of our clients are happy to find friends or family to help them set up before the wedding. With 6 or 7 people, set up can be done in under an hour. Last summer, I helped one of my friends set up for her wedding. I had the help of the help of the seven groomsmen. Everything turned out stunning and it took us only about 45 minutes!

The wedding was at the Greysalon Ballroom in Duluth. The chairs were already set up for the ceremony, so we were able to go row by row with ease. After the ceremony, the venue moved all the chairs for us into the dinner set up.

Chair covers can completely transform the look of any venue. Hide those ugly chairs and make the space elegant! We have over 20 sash colors in stock to choose from. If we do not have the color you are looking for, we can custom order (if time allows) a new color in for you, for only $1 extra per chair!

Give us a call or stop in to see the selection, or to grab one of our free try-on bags to bring to your venue and find the perfect fit for the chair.

Gown of the Month – April – LARK by Maggie Sottero

We are bringing back our gown of the month with the “Lark” by Maggie Sottero! From the “Gatsby” inspiration, the Lark brings the best elements out. The gown features floral and lace appliques on tulle over a Valentina Satin slip. An optional grosgrain ribbon belt encrusted with Swarovski crystals is a great addition to this elegant gown.

This gown comes in ivory and ivory over light gold. Our favorite new color trend this spring  is the golds and champagnes. We love how the color of a gown can make a dress seem more whimsical and add a touch of a vintage element. The Lark would be perfect for a chapel wedding, but being as it is so light, it would also work nicely for a destination wedding.

Adding a french veil to this dress  instantly transforms the look into something more vintage. If a little dramatic flair is more your style, try adding a simple cathedral veil instead. It will allow the beauty of the dress to still shine through, but will finish the look nicely.

Lark 2

The Lark is a great gown to accessorize with gold and pink jewelry. Doing so can help create that “Gatsby” theme for your wedding. Try finding a larger earring with some color, like the “Alecia” earring from David Tutera’s Embellish collection. We also love using bold bracelets or necklaces to help add to the look. Accessorizing can completely change your look to make it more modern, vintage, whimsical, or even make your look more romantic.

Give us a call to schedule a time to come in to try on this new, gorgeous gown!

Gown of the Month – August – PRIMROSE by Maggie Sottero

We’re back again this month with our “Gown of the Month” for August. This month, we are featuring a gown from one of our favorite designers, Maggie Sottero. From the Maggie Sottero website, the description for our new favorite gown, Primrose, is as follows: Understated, yet rich in design, this tulle and Chic Organza fit and flare features a slimming ruched bodice, with a textured swirling rosette skirt. Finished with strapless, sweetheart neckline and signature corset back closure.

This gown comes in both white and ivory (shown in the above picture). From the flattering sweetheart neckline to the modern textured mermaid skirt, we think this gown will suit every type of bride. With ruching from bust to mid-thigh, this gown hugs the body and flatters every curve.

Another great thing about Primrose is the blank canvas she presents to every different type of bride! As mentioned before on our blog, we love dresses that can be worn by brides from every different spectrum of the wedding world: from destination to classic to modern to edgy!

For ladies wanting to draw attention to their waist and add some bling to their ensemble, a beaded belt would be the perfect addition. Adding color couldn’t be easier for the bold brides with a soft blush belt or a bright aqua sash. Either tied in an elegant bow or attached during alterations, this trend can play into girls wanting two different looks without wanting to purchase two dresses. Finding two perfect belts, a classic ivory one for the ceremony and a festive blush option for the reception would keep your guests on their toes and keep your look right on trend.

A long, simple cathedral veil would complement the airy texture of the skirt perfectly, while a tulle, flowery headpiece can take its place while you dance the night away with your new husband!

We invite you to come in and try on our newest, beautiful addition to our dress family. From her name to her airy, ethereal skirt, Primrose is romantic from head to toe!

Trend Watching: Straps Are Back! Featuring Maggie Sottero Gowns

One look at any bridal magazine or blog and you’re bound to see a change in the amount of bare shoulders from recent years of the past. Seemingly overnight, the world of bridal gowns has gone from almost exclusively strapless dresses to one filled with sleeved options.

We here are Heartstrings Bridal are in LOVE with all of the new choices for brides who want to jump into the new (old?) trend! Where a few years ago, dresses with straps were shunned as a bit “old fashioned”, they are now welcomed with a new trendy twist in the ever-changing bridal fashion scene.

From the moment Kate Middleton was seen with her sleeved gown for her wedding to Prince William, sleeves of every length were back! No longer stuck with the stigma of the “poof sleeve” that straps and sleeves once had, sleeves and straps have made their comeback in a multitude of new choices.

Today, we want to focus on one of our favorite designers, Maggie Sottero, and a small sample of the dresses they offer that feature straps and sleeves of different variations.

Cap sleeves that cover a woman’s shoulders in a delicate cut of lace are a great way to bring the trend into your wedding dress. If you aren’t ready to commit to a fully strapped dress, ask your seamstress to make your straps removable for the look of two dresses without having to spend any extra money!

With this year’s release of the Great Gatsby featuring Leo DiCaprio (swoon!) the roaring 20’s fashion has been all over the runway. If you and your partner are planning a 20’s themed bash, Maggie Sottero, and other designers, offer 20’s themed dresses with delicate embroidery and draped sleeves for a flapper feel that is totally bridal.

Another benefit of a strapped or sleeved dress (besides the obvious comfort and ease of wear!) is the simplicity of accessorizing. Having straps or sleeves may eliminate the need to search high and low for the perfect necklace. The Maggie Sottero Arielle and Bernadette features beautiful necklines with gorgeous and flattering beading lining the necklines.

No matter if you are wanting a sleeved dress or not, we are so thrilled that designers are giving every bride the multitude of options that are available in today’s fashions, sleeved or not. We hope straps and sleeves are here to stay!

Bridal Spotlight – Lacie + Eric

Name of Bride/Groom: Lacie & Eric

Wedding Date: 6/16/2012

♥Venue Location: Our Lady of Grace Church/Flickertail Gardens, Minot, ND
Rehearsal Dinner Location: Holiday Inn, Minot ND
Bridal Gown Designer: Jasmine Bridal
Bridesmaids Dress Designer: Bill Levkoff
Tux Provider: Won free tuxes through an online contest, Franklin & Gower
Wedding Theme: Casual, laid-back, family affair
Videographer: Digital Keepsakes (based out of Hazen, ND)
Photographer: Otis & James (based out of Minot, ND)

Proposal: For my 21st birthday, Eric had surprised her with a homemade scrapbook including all the things we had done together: tickets for sporting events, pictures of things that corresponded to dates we had, and other fun mementos. Fast forward 2.5 years, and Eric used this book to propose to me after surprising me with an update to the book with the last page of “Will you Marry Me?” I was in complete shock and so excited! After the shock wore off, the wedding planning began!

Describe your Heartstrings Shopping Experience: All of my 7 bridesmaids had a different body type: one was almost 5’8”, and another was barely 5’, some needed the support of straps on their dresses, some were fine with a strapless dress. Because of these differences, I made the choice early on to let each girl choose her own dress from my designer of choice, Bill Levkoff. This designer offers dozens and dozens of dress choices in a handful of different fabrics. I decided to go with the charcoal type color in chiffon short dresses. When the time came for my girls to choose their dresses, they each were able to pick from around 30 designs that would suit their needs. Each girl ended up with a beautiful knee-length dress in the charcoal & chiffon specifications that I chose, but they were each able to find something that they felt comfortable and unique in.

Wedding Day Highlights: The morning of the wedding looked gray and very windy, which was a worry since we were hoping to have the dance in the outdoor portion of our reception venue. Pictures were windy, dinner was windy, but as soon as the dinner was cleared away and we were moving out towards the outdoor dance floor, the wind died away and we were left with a beautiful evening of dancing outside! It was perfect!

Another great memory was speech given by my maid of honor and sister, Taylor, and my best friend since high school, Tia. Taylor started of alone, saying nice things about Eric and I. Then, just as I thought she was finishing up, my friend Tia joiner her for a rap to Will Smith’s “Fresh Prince of Bel Aire” all about Eric and I’s relationship throughout the years. It goes without saying I was thoroughly impressed, and equally as embarrassed! It was amazing! We had a videographer, luckily, so he was able to capture the whole thing for us to relive forever.

Favorite Memory of the Wedding Day: Realizing that all the hard we had put into the day was all coming together and we had the day we had imagined, but it was so much better! The weather turned out great, even after a shaky start. After a nightmare at the hair salon where 3 bridesmaids and I left in shock at how terrible our hair looked but having no time or patience
to argue, we went back to the church and with the help of my two amazing personal attendants, and 1 amazing cousin we were able fix everyone up to look amazing for the big day.

A Funny Story or Blooper That Happened on Your Big Day: Our unity candy wouldn’t light, so we just had to blow the two candles out mom’s lit out so they wouldn’t melt all over the stands and start a fire. It was a “serious part” of the ceremony and everyone was watching us up front, but we couldn’t stop laughing. Embarrassing, but a good memory!

A Piece of Wedding Advice for New Brides: Don’t procrastinate and don’t let anyone tell you what you “should” be doing. No one knows what you want but you and your finance, so don’t let anyone bully you into doing something the way they think it should be done. After all, it’s YOUR wedding and you two are the ones who will live with those memories. Also, if you can fit it in the budget, hire a videographer. Some people will think it’s not necessary and you don’t have to find a uber-expensive professional, but pictures will be great to hang on the wall, but a video will capture everything: voices, speeches, laughs, EVERYTHING! The memories and little bits and pieces of the day will slowly fade away in your memory, but you can always pull out the video and remember exactly how your husband sounded when he slipped up in his vows, or how great your maid-of-honor’s speech was!

Introducing: Bridal Gown of the Month! – Allure 9065

Today we’d like to introduce a new type of post on our blog: Bridal Gown of the Month! Our goal with this feature is to not only introduce you to fashion forward gowns from today’s top designers, but also show you the full picture of two ways we imagine this bridal gown to be styled. Without further ado, this month’s featured gown is Allure Bridals style 9065!

Allure’s describes this gown as “An exquisite ball gown in rich, soft satin. The strapless bodice features a sweetheart neckline, delicate ruching, and Swarovski crystals at the waistline.” One look at the picture of this gown and we agree: exquisite!

This soft satin ball down dances the line beautifully between the traditional and modern with it’s clean lines and on-trend belt, and full, traditional ballgown shape.

This gown will not only show off the bride’s shoulders with its sweetheart neckline but it will also compliment her natural beauty with its minimal embellishments. Also, this gown’s shape and waist centered belt and ruching will make any bride’s waist look itty-bitty on her big day.

Because of the relative simplicity of the gown, a bride will be free to choose to go either big and spectacular with a necklace and drop earrings, or go more simple by skipping the necklace and choosing a gorgeous, sparkly pair of earrings to match her left-hand ring!

The back of the gown is just as spectacular as the front, with button detail extending to the bottom of the train and belt that wraps around to give the bride sparkle from every angle.

Long, loose waves or a high ballerina bun ala Hilary Duff would be gorgeous with this dress to keep with the more modern, trendy, and natural feel. For a more traditional look, up-swept curls or a low chignon would complement the style and show off the bride’s back and shoulders.

Whichever way the bride styles this gown, it will be elegant and eye-catching from top to bottom!

This gown, which has just arrived at our store (eek!), comes in sizes 2-32, in White/Silver, Diamond White/Silver, Champagne/Silver. Due to Allure online pricing rules, we are not able to display prices, but please give us a call at 952-932-9090 for pricing and ordering details. We’d love to help you find the dress of your dreams!
